How do I book a ticket?

It's that easy: Simply book your ticket in the  webshop on the date of your choice.

Information and booking: www.nachtexpress.de

Yes, the best way to book tickets for our SJ EuroNight&nbspis online via our webshop

Yes, this is possible.

Please note that you must notify SJ Customer Service on the day of departure if you wish to board the train at a station later than the one indicated on the ticket in order to keep your seat on the train. If you have not notified us of the change before the train's departure time, you may lose your right to a seat.

The prerequisite for this is that the booked passenger is the first on board with their ticket. The other family members or friends traveling in the compartment specified when booking the ticket can then also board the compartment at a later station stop of the SJ EuroNights.

No, the SJ EuroNight only transports passengers and not vehicles. The car rental companies at the arrival station will be happy to make you a suitable offer for your desired vehicle. On the Hamburg <> Lörrach route, we are otherwise happy to recommend our BTE AutoReiseZug (tickets at www.bte-autoreisezug.de).

The SJ EuroNight runs all year round. The timetable is available here.

Avoid tight transfer times so that you don't get stressed at the station. We recommend that you leave a sufficient gap of at least 2 hours between changes. During the journey, you should contact the train company if you need help. So if you are on an SJ train, contact our on-board staff or SJ customer service, if you are on a Deutsche Bahn train, contact Deutsche Bahn, etc. The same applies if the journey is delayed, then contact the railroad company that caused the delay to get compensation.

If you miss a change/connection? If you are traveling by train through Europe, it is common to have to change trains on the journey. You should be able to rely on arriving at your final destination. That's why SJ works with 15 other European train companies, so you can easily get help if you miss a train change due to a delay.

The mobility service on the platforms requires advance notification to the relevant offices. Registration for assistance should be made at least 48 hours before the start of the journey.

What luggage is allowed on board our night train?

You may take no more than one bag (maximum dimensions 80x50x35 cm, maximum weight 20 kg) and one small item of hand luggage. You may only take special baggage with you if you book an extra bed in your couchette or sleeper compartment; see information below.
Luggage must be stored in your compartment either under the lowest couchette or above the door.

If you are traveling alone, would like to book a sleeper compartment and would like to take more luggage with you than is permitted under the SJ EuroNight rules, you must book a private compartment. You can then take your luggage with you in accordance with our general luggage rules.

If you are traveling alone, would like to book a couchette compartment and would like to take more luggage with you than is permitted under the SJ EuroNight rules, you must book an additional empty couchette seat. You can then take luggage with you in accordance with our general luggage rules.

If you are traveling in a group and wish to book a private couchette or sleeper compartment, we still recommend that you book an additional empty bed if you wish to take more luggage with you than is permitted under the SJ EuroNight rules. Otherwise, there may not be enough space in your compartment for all your luggage.

If you are traveling in a seating carriage, you are not allowed to book an extra seat to take more luggage with you. You may only take one bag and no special luggage.
Otherwise, our general rules on how you are responsible for your luggage and how it should be packed apply.

To be able to take special baggage into your compartment, you must book an empty extra bed. If you have booked an extra bed, the SJ rules for special baggage apply (see below).

You may not take any special baggage with you if you are traveling in a seating carriage; this also applies to bicycles.

Rules for special baggage:

If you would like to take larger luggage with you, we recommend that you choose a departure that does not take place at peak times. The train conductor may be forced to refuse special luggage if there is no more space on your departure.

Baby carriages must be folded up in good time before boarding the train. The baby carriage should be placed in such a way that it does not interfere with accessibility on board and must never be placed near the train doors or escape routes. It is not permitted to book a wheelchair space in order to park a baby carriage there.

Wheelchairs/mobile scooters: A wheelchair space must always be booked in order to bring a wheelchair/mobile scooter on board in an unfolded position. We only allow wheelchairs/mobile scooters on board that meet our length and size requirements. The train conductor may refuse transportation if the dimensions of your wheelchair/mobility scooter exceed the requirements or if you have not booked a wheelchair space.

Wheelchairs/mobility scooters that are to be transported as luggage must be folded up for the entire journey. The wheelchair lift may not be used for boarding. You must carry your luggage on board yourself. On board the train, a folded wheelchair/scooter will be placed in the luggage compartment (maximum dimensions 100x85x30 cm and maximum weight 25 kg).

Sports equipment such as skis and golf clubs must be stowed in a bag and placed in such a way that they cannot fall over.

Electric scooters and smaller folding bicycles must be folded and placed in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you. They may not be stored in the overhead bins. It is not permitted to charge electric scooters or larger lithium batteries on the train.

Bicycles must be disassembled or folded before boarding and stowed in a bicycle bag (maximum dimensions 140x85x30 cm, maximum weight 25 kg including bicycle and bag). The bag must be stowed in the luggage compartment.

Larger musical instruments must be stowed in an instrument case and placed on the open floor as instructed by the train attendant.

To take a bicycle with you on SJ EuroNight, you must book an additional bed in a sleeper carriage or sleeper compartment.
You can take a bicycle with you if it is folded and stowed in a bicycle bag with maximum dimensions of 140x85x30 cm and a maximum weight of 25 kg including bicycle and bag.

What do I have to consider on board?

Yes, sleeping car compartments can be locked from the inside.

There is no wifi on board the SJ EuroNight. So download any music, movies or shows you want to watch before boarding. Or even better: just enjoy the journey and chat with your fellow passengers!

In the bistro on board you will find salads, sandwiches, hot dishes and other delicious treats: Menü Bistro SJ EuroNight

In the mini-kiosk you will find a small selection of meals, snacks, hot and cold drinks, wine and beer: Menü Mini-Kiosk SJ EuroNight

The bistro is available on the train during the journey in Sweden (Stockholm-Malmö, Malmö-Stockholm). The mini kiosk on board sells a smaller selection of food and drinks for the rest of the journey.

Breakfast during the journey

If you are traveling in a 1st or 2nd class sleeper compartment, breakfast is included in your ticket. If you are traveling in 1st class, the train attendant will bring breakfast to your compartment in the morning. Otherwise, breakfast will be waiting for you in the bistro or at the kiosk!

Small pets traveling in a cage (such as birds, rabbits and guinea pigs) count as one animal per cage. The cage must not exceed the size of normal hand baggage and must remain closed at all times. Cages can be placed on seats if a protective pad is placed underneath. All animals must remain on the floor during the entire journey, even if you have booked an additional ticket for more space.

If you wish to travel in a couchette or sleeper carriage, you must book a private compartment and can then take up to two pets with you at no extra charge. Pets must remain on the floor and must not lie on the beds.

As a passenger, you are responsible for ensuring that your pet is allowed to enter the respective country (Germany, Denmark, Sweden). The regulations for traveling with animals across national borders vary from country to country and depending on the type of animal.

If you are traveling abroad with your pet, it may need a pet passport showing proof of a rabies vaccination, for example, a so-called European pet passport. When booking your trip, find out about the regulations for the destination and the countries you are traveling through.

You can travel in all travel classes with your guide or assistance dog. For you to have more space, a private compartment will be booked for you. You can choose between a couchette or a sleeping compartment in 1 or 2 class. You do not pay anything extra for the empty berths. The dog must remain on the floor during the entire journey.

If you would like to book a trip including an assistance dog, contact SJ Customer Service at +46771-75 75 75 (touch-tone 5).
